Editorial Policy

This page describes how pages on ommio.app are made. It is a commitment, not a description of an aspiration — if we break one of these rules, the page you are reading is the standard to hold us to.

Every page must carry its own evidence

We do not publish pages that only rearrange what is already on the internet. Before a page goes live it must contain at least two of the following:

1. An original diagram or a real screenshot of the product — not stock imagery.
2. Data from a primary source, linked to the source itself rather than to someone’s summary of it.
3. Something you can use: a downloadable template, a working tool, a checklist you can copy.
4. A quote from a named person.
5. A finding from Ommio’s own anonymised, aggregated data or from a survey we ran.

A draft that cannot meet this stays a draft. We would rather publish fewer pages.

How we handle sources

We cite the original study, with authors, year and venue, and we link to it.

We say when a source is weaker than its reputation. A conference presentation is not a peer-reviewed article; a preprint is not peer reviewed at all; a survey of people who already use a practice is not evidence that the practice works. Where those distinctions matter to whether you should believe a claim, the page makes them.

If we cannot verify a citation, the claim comes out of the page. We do not keep a claim and hedge it.

How we use AI

We use AI, and we will tell you where.

We use it for: structuring a draft, producing a first draft from a brief, first-pass translation, and generating variations of titles and summaries.

We do not use it for: generating sources or statistics, publishing anything a person has not read line by line, or producing pages at volume without an editor. Every page is read and edited by a person before it goes live, and every page gains something during that edit that the draft did not have — usually the section describing when the advice fails.

Translations get a first pass from a machine and then a correction pass from a native speaker of that language. If we cannot get a native speaker for a language, we do not publish in that language.

Commercial disclosure

Ommio is a paid product with a free tier, and these pages exist in part to introduce people to it. Three rules follow from that:

• Comparison pages state where a competitor does something better than we do, by name.
• We do not take payment for placement in any list or comparison on this site.
• Method pages tell you when the method does not work, including when the honest answer is that you do not need an app.

Updating and correcting

Every page shows when it was last updated, and we only change that date when the content actually changed.

Pages are reviewed at six and twelve months. A page that is no longer accurate is corrected, merged into a better one, or removed — we do not leave stale pages up for the traffic.

Factual corrections are made in the page and noted, not made silently. If you find an error, tell us.
